Joaquin James, aka DJ Quintessential, has always loved music.  By the time he was just 18 months old, Joaquin was regularly selecting the music that played in his home.  And no, he wasn’t requesting music typically adored by children.  He loved R&B, reggae, rap and rock n’ roll.  He got his first mixer on his 8th birthday and there was no looking back.  He began professionally djing when he was only 9, and he has worked some big rooms.  He raised over $1,000 when he auctioned off his services at the gala for the Montessori School of Northampton.  He has also opened for the famous children’s book author, Jeff Kinney at last year’s Meltdown.  He has spun at several stores downtown, including Ode and J. Rich.  He is primarily self-taught but did attend an in-depth program at the DJ Refinery in Bethesda, MD last summer.  DJ Quintessential is available for parties and functions and can be reached at djquintessential@yahoo.com.
